History

Narrative Summary:
Three light aircraft were obtained in 1952, but sold to civilian operators in 1968. They were used for air observation and liaison duties. No replacements were obtained.

16 February 1881    Forerunner of modern Army created.
6 August 1944    Luxembourg Brigade lands in Normandy to support liberation of Belgium.
July 1945    Luxembourg Army re-established in the homeland.
1952    First aircraft acquired.
1968    Army aircraft sold.

Markings

National Insignia:
The Piper Super Cubs carried a roundel consisting of a white disc with a wide blue border and a red lion in the centre. This was carried in the usual 6 positions (above and below each wing and on the fuselage sides). A fin flash of blue-white-red-white-blue diagonal stripes was also used. No service titles were carried.
