Narrative Summary:
The Coast Guard was first created in 1987. It's first aircraft was a Cessna 404, but this was replaced by a Dornier Do 228 in 1990. Until January 2007 Dutch coastguard aviation was operated by the civilian company Martinair, under contract to the Rijkwaterstaat. After that date operation and servicing passed to the military. Two second-hand Do 228s were introduced in 2007 to replace the well-used previous example of the type.
