Aircraft Types NOT Used

This page gives details of some of the aircraft types that were offered or promised to the Netherlands Naval Aviation but not delivered, cancelled official orders, and types have been falsely reported as being in service.

Douglas A-20C-2-DO Havoc (DB-7C)
48 DB-7C ordered 16 October 1941 for use as torpedo bombers. Serials D-47 to D-94 were reserved. Not delivered due to the fall of the NEI. Eventually supplied to Russia instead. The later MLD ordered the B-25 Mitchell instead. Douglas aircraft with construction numbers 6265 to 6312 had been allocated.

Sikorsky S.43
48 amphibian aircraft ordered 1940 for use in NEI. None delivered by March 1942 invasion.

Sopwith Camel
'Dutch Military Aviation 1945-1977' by Paul A Jackson lists the Sopwith Camel as one of the aircraft types used 1917-1940. This may be a confusion with the RNAS Sopwith Baby which was interned.

Spijker-Trompenburg V.3
20 V.3 fighters ordered 1918, but all cancelled 1919.
