GVO
Role: Fighter-pilot training

(Gevechtsvliegopleiding) The Fighter Pilots Combat School was formed at Valkenburg in 1946, with Firefly F,1 aircraft received February-June 1946. These were replaced by Firefly FR.4s in April 1947. The unit was used as the nucleus to form 1, 2 and 4 squadrons. Ten Sea Furys were added April-May 1948, which were later used to reform 860 sqn in July 1950. The GVO's task was handed over to 3 sqn in 1950 and disbanded.
