OVTS
Role: Fighter-pilot training

(Oostelijk Verkennings En Transport Squadron - Eastern Reconnaissance and Transport Squadron )
Following the Dutch return to the East Indies in December 1945, 321 sqn at Morokrembagan transferred from RAF to MLD control and was renamed OVTS in late 1946. The unit comprised a Catalina Flight (with about 24 aircraft) and a Dakota Flight (with 15 aircraft). During the Indonesian war of independece the former carried out anti gun-running patrols, and the latter was employed on supplies transport. On 2 December 1949 six Catalinas moved to Biak Island, off New Guinea, to form 7 sqn. On 1 February 1950 the Dakota Flight was redesignated 8 sqn and the Catalina Flight redesignated 321 sqn.
