Unit History
Flying School
Role: Pilot training
Prior to May 1940, most MLD pilots received initial flight training in Holland, followed by operational training at Morokrembangan, in the NEI. After the occupation of Holland, the MLD relocated all flight training to Java. The MLD Flight Training School provided primary, basic, advanced and operational training from Morokrembangan. Due to Japanese air raids, in mid February 1942 the school was shut down and moved to Australia. Landplanes operated from the adjacent airfield at Soerabaja. Operational training was performed with Fokker T.IVAs from GVT 11.
