The air force was organised into three Air Base Wings, each with an Air Wing comprising between two and four Squadrons, plus the Flying School. The 2nd Air Wing has since been reduced to a Squadron and the Flying School disbanded.

In addition to the main bases, some older bases have been closed and there are also a number of smaller airports and airfields around the country which are sometimes used by the Air Force.
