History

Narrative Summary:
Prior to independence, the Slovenian Government operated a Learjet for VIP transport from 1975 onwards. After independence, the Slovenian Government expanded its aircraft fleet to cope with increased demand for VIP transport. All aircraft carry civilian markings.

Key Dates:
1975    First Slovenian Government VIP aircraft acquired.
1992    Establishment of Republic of Slovenia aviation unit.

Current Status:
Slovenian Government Aviation aircraft are used primarily for VIP transport and for calibrating ground based radio aids.

Future Plans:
The planned purchase of a Falcon 900EX was replaced by a cheaper Falcon 2000EX. The change was necessary after strong adverse public opinion and pressure from the media over the high price of the aircraft.

Markings

National Insignia:
The national flag is carried as a fin flash. All aircraft carry the service title REPUBLIC OF SLOVENIA in Latin lettering on the upper fuselage sides.
