Upgrade all CH-47C to CH-47D standard.
Take delivery of 24 Eurocopter Tigre helicopters by 2010. Six Tigers will be loaned by the French Army to allow training to start.

Spanish military aircraft serials comprise the aircraft type designation followed by a two or three digit individual identity, e.g. CH-47D HT.17-11. In addition, FAMET helicopters also carry a service alphanumeric code, comprising the letters ET- (for Ejercito de Tierra) and a 3-digit code, e.g. ET-411 for the same CH-47D.

FAMET is organised into Batallones (Battalions) - one attack, four field (Maniobra) and one heavy. The pilot training school, CEFAMET, is at Colmenar Viejo, as are the liaison unit, BATRANS, and the maintenance and VIP transport unit SHEL.

The main air bases currently used are Almagro, Agoncillo, Betera, Colmenar Viejo, El Copero and Los Rodeos (Tenerife).
In addition to the main bases there are also a number of smaller airports and airfields around the country which are sometimes used by the Army.
