Essex Air Ambulance
Role: Air Ambulance

(Essex Ambulance Service NHS Trust).
The Essex Air Ambulance service was established as a charity in 1997 to provide a life-saving service for the people of Essex. The first Air Ambulance for Essex became operational on 14 June 1998 and was officially launched on 1 July 1998. It is based at the Ford Motor Company premises, Boreham, near Chelmsford, just behind the Essex Police helicopter base. In May 2003 a more modern EC135 Eurocopter was introduced and is now in operation seven days a week in daylight hours, and attends an average of 3-5 emergencies a day. The helicopter is operated by Bond Air Services Ltd.
