UTVA Lasta * Retired *
Two V-54 Lasta ('Swallow') prototypes produced from 1985. The Lasta was a tandem 2-seat basic trainer intended to lead students directly onto the jet-powered G-4 Super Galeb. A pre-production batch of six aircraft was delivered 1986-88 for evaluation. A number of shortcomings discovered during flight testing led to the design of the Lasta 2, which featured a shorter fuselage, increased wing span, reduced ventral fin and one-piece canopy. Development was abandoned in 1989 after the Lasta 2 prototype had flown.
