Avia BH-33E
In 1929 three BH-33E-SHS fighters were acquired for in-depth evaluation, after brief trials had been carried out on the BH-33.2 prototype in Autumn 1928. A fourth aircraft was delivered after one aircraft was lost in a flying accident. A batch of 20 aircraft were purchased in 1931. All delivered with 450 hp Walter Jupiter VI engines, but during overhaul at Ikarus were fitted with locally-made 420 hp IAM Jupiter 9Ad engines.

Licence production of the BH-33E-SHS began in January 1934, with 22 aircraft being built by Ikarus until March 1937. IAM Jupiter 9Ad engines. In March 1935 five aircraft were supplied to Greece. One aircraft may have returned, while the others continued to serve with the Greek Air Force. From 1939 the JKRV aircraft were used as fighter trainers. In April 1941 six aircraft were still in operational service - two were lost on the first day of the war while 11 were captured on the ground by German forces, and one by Italian forces. Seven aircraft were passed to the Croatian Air Force.
