Shenyang F-5 Fresco

in North Korean Air Force service

History

More than 100 Chinese-built MiG-17s were received. One source claims that 380 F-5s had been delivered to North Korea by 1963. In 2007, it was reported that 107 remained in service. Three Air Regiments with three squadrons each were equipped with the type: the 35th Air Regiment at Kaech’on, an Air Regiment at Panghyon/Naamsi AB and the 4th or 11th Air Regiment at Taetan AB.
