Take Off (5)

Aviation-related Magazines Guide

Launched in 1974 as a bi-monthly, ‘Take Off’ was the official magazine of the Malta Aviation Society. It was a magazine for aviation enthusiasts and modellers, featuring the Malta aviation scene, Luqa movements, photo page, feature articles, scale drawings, kit conversions etc.

At some point before 2000 the magazine switched to a quarterly publication frequency. There is no mention of the magazine on the current MAS website, so it may have been discontinued. MAS also periodically published ‘Luqa Airport Movements’ and the annual ‘Malta Aviation Yearbook’ (with issues for 1989 to 1995 at least) for it’s members.

Sky Warriors

Aviation-related Magazines Guide

‘Sky Warriors’ was a re-vamped version of ‘Air Forces International’ with improved quality printing and more colour illustrations. It was launched in February 1991, but didn’t survive very long. It covered a wide range of vintage and modern military aviation topics.

Each issue was A4 size, with 64 pages, and illustrated with many b+w and colour photos and scale line drawings. Published by Richard J Caruana.
