History
Narrative Summary
The first Paraguayan Police force was established in 1843. In 1992 a new constitution came into effect, which re-organised policing under the newly created Policia Nacional Paraguaya (PNP). The PNP come under the Ministry of the Interior. In 1992 a Mil Mi-8 was obtained on lease to evaluate helicopter operations. It subsequently crashed in 1994. In 2010 the Agrupación Especializada (Special Group) established a new aviation unit, the ‘Agrupación Aéreo Fluvial’ (River Air Group), to operate helicopters in support of policing operations.

Markings
National Insignia
A triangular version of the national flag is carried on the fuselage sides and the national colours are carried as horizontal stripes on the tail fin. The PNP shield insignia is displayed on the forward fuselage. All aircraft carry the service title POLICIA NACIONAL on the fuselage.
Aircraft Serial Numbers
All PNP helicopters carry military-style serials in the A-01 to A-15 range, except for the Mi-8 which – appears to have been un-serialled.

Organisational Structure
The Mi-8 was operated by a specially formed Agrupación Aéreopolicial. Since 2010 all helicopters are operated by the Agrupación Aéreo Fluvial of the Agrupación Especializada.
