History

An export variant of the Su-25UB, four Su-25UBK Frogfoot-B two-seater conversion trainers was supplied in 1987/88. They were assigned to the 55th Aviation Regiment at Sonchon. Two were reportedly in service in 1999. Their current status is unknown. No individual aircraft details, such as construction numbers and codes are known.

Sukhoi Su-25K Frogfoot-A

History

North Korea was the first Asian country to receive the Sukhoi Su-25 close air support aircraft with 32 Su-25K Frogfoot-As being delivered in 1987/88. They were assigned to a single regiment consisting of three squadrons at Sonchon, about 80 km from Pyongyang. Thirty were reportedly still in service in 1997 with the 55th Aviation Regiment, based at Sunchon. The type remains in service, although it is likely that many are stored. No individual aircraft details, such as construction numbers and/or codes are known.

Sukhoi Su-7BMK Fitter-A

History

An export variant of the Sukhoi Su-7BM close support fighter, 18 Su-7BMKs were delivered in the early 1970s. Presumed withdrawn from use when the Su-25 Frogfoot’s arrived. Nothing known about individual aircraft.
