History

Several Lavochkin La-9s were delivered to China in 1949/50. Subsequently, La-9s were briefly used on operations in 1951. Three La-9s were claimed as shot down by USAF F-86 Sabre pilots on November 30, 1951. The Chinese-operated La-9s were finished in DPRKAF markings and insignia, although it is likely that no La-9s formally served with the North Korean air arm. However, it has also been said that La-9s replaced Yak-9s from 1951 onwards. The six USAF La-9 claims (three in 1951 and three in 1952) were possibly La-11s of the Chinese 351st FR.
