Role: Fighter/Transport/Liaison.

The unit was formed in 1954 with two C-47 from the Civilian Air Transport (CAT), a CIA owned transport airline. Later additional fighter aircraft were received from the United States, mainly from the Puerto Rico and Texas Air National Guard. The aircraft were used extensively during "Operation SBSuccess". The transport aircraft operated from Managua to ferry supply from the United States via Nicaragua to Honduras. The fighter aircraft operated from Las Flores.
